Your official grade point average is on your official transcript, produced by the registrar. Everything else, including the figure in the student portal, is a convenience copy that can lag or be calculated differently. When it matters, ask for the transcript rather than reading the dashboard.

The student record system normally shows the same figures and is updated on a different schedule, so a grade change or a repeat can be visible in one and not the other for weeks. Why the portal and the transcript can disagree
Repeat policies and transfer credit are the usual causes. An institution that lets a repeated course replace the original grade may show the replacement immediately in one system and after processing in another. Transfer credit that counts toward the degree and not toward the average appears in the credit total and not in the average, which reads as an error and is not one.
